The Grand-Étang in Saint-Benoît is a large water reservoir ideal for spending some quiet time. It is a walk without great difficulty, including a slight positive elevation. One of the advantages is that it is always possible to make a U-turn if you think you cannot do this walk entirely.

Description
Throughout the course, you are surrounded by lush nature. Once you arrive at Grand-Étang, it is quite possible that you will be caught up in the beauty of the place. With a bit of luck, you will come across a papangue looking for its prey.
Your itinerary
Step 1
Go to the Grand Etang car park, which also serves as a picnic area.
Step 2
Take the gravel track then turn right to go around the Grand Etang.
Step 3
You will cross a humid forest which is part of the World Heritage of Humanity. Stay on marked trails. You will find plenty of endemic and native species of Reunion.
Step 4
Along the route you will find views of the lake at medium altitude and gradually the view of the waterfalls of the Annette arm. Fish are visible and papanguines also hover with a little luck in this area.
