Hike on the quay and the arches of Sainte-Rose
Distance:6,5 km
Your itinerary
Step 1: Departure
The start of this walk will be at the parking lot of Anse des Cascades in Sainte-Rose. By the way, take advantage of this bucolic place, it will relax you.
Step 2: Step 2
Going up the road, join the path above the car park on the left and follow the direction of Gros Piton, then turn right at the intersection. As you will be climbing a bit, take your time if you are not well warmed up.
Step 3: The Balcony
You have arrived at the Balcony. You are where people come to admire the lava flows during eruptions. Even without this, the site offers the admirable spectacle of the path traveled to the sea, but above all of the vast expanse of the ocean
Step 4: Under the woods
Turn around to take the spring trail, then turn right under the woods.
Step 5: The Lion Cage
And now you are at a place called “La Source”. All you have to do is take the “La Cage aux Lions” path, near the kiosk.. don't worry… there are none… You will walk along the coast and you will be amazed!
For the record, this name comes from M.Elma, owner of land overlooking the Grand Brûlé. He found the metaphor of the lion, because when the volcano erupts, it feels like a caged lion roaring.
Step 6: The Arches
Here too, it is magnificent. You arrive at the 4th km. Enjoy the view of the cliff, the arches. Of course, avoid getting close to the edge, it can be unstable.
Stay on the path to the quai aux bois, then turn right up the road to Ilet Leroux.
Step 7: This is the end
You have come to the end of this little journey. 50 m away, a bus stop is there to take you to Anse des Cascades, your starting point, to pick up your vehicle.
