Created in 1968, the Vanilla Cooperative of Bras-Panon now brings together nearly 140 producers, and has been working for more than 60 years to transform, in the purest Reunion tradition, the green vanilla of its members, grown in the eastern zone. , southeast of the island, where the most beautiful forests extend.
Unique on the island of Reunion, the Cooperative offers visitors 45 minutes of discovery on the secrets of preparing this famous "black gold".
Like a heritage, the passionate guides will reveal the secrets of the pollination of the vanilla flower, (discovered by a Réunionnais slave, Edmond Albius) up to the process of ancestral and artisanal transformation of the vanilla pod.
This is an opportunity for everyone to let themselves be carried away by the sweet scent of vanilla while enjoying a “good little coffee”!
Réunion vanilla pods, as well as its derivatives and other artisanal products are available at the shop, free access, shop open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 13:30 p.m. to 17 p.m.
Tour departure times from Monday to Saturday: 9 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 14 p.m. and 16:15 p.m., every 45 min.
The price includes the guided tour with vanilla coffee exhibition at the end of the visit and film.
A boutique recently opened its doors in Piton Sainte-Rose: Lavanilla des Laves, which was a gold medalist in 2019. It is open from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 13:30 p.m. to 17 p.m.
