Publishers and authors passionate about Reunion Island!

We owe these unique collections to several of our publishers invested in promoting Reunion’s heritage through these works and creations:

  • Des Livres et des Îles, cultural broadcaster in Reunion, which notably markets the Zebulo Éditions brand of musical and sound books;
  • Gélabert and its diversity of items such as placemats, postcards, posters and key rings, magnets and magnetic bottle openers or even calendars and books;
  • Jades Édition, popular for its encyclopedic posters, books on flora and fauna and cookbooks;
  • Novo Libris known for publishing children's titles and comics in Creole;
  • Orphie, an overseas publisher that has been expanding its catalog of gems for almost 40 years;
  • Pop and his brothers which offers colorful alphabet books, magnets, note books or even original postcards with its graphics and humorous little phrases;
  • RBSD with its souvenir notes, collector’s coins and wooden pens;
  • IGN and its magnificent maps of Reunion Island;
  • Ti Fille Création and its ceramic turtle and fish magnets;
  • Bubbles in the Ocean, with its Réunion comics and mangas;
  • Okopix, and his book “Flore MAZIGADOR”, history and Creole tales of the magical plants of Reunion Island (jury's favorite – Honoré Lan Kréol Prize 2022).

Notebooks, postcards, posters and even magnets prove to be quality products that convey local tradition and make perfect items to offer or give as a gift. The books on our island highlight Culture and Creole identity as well as the beauty of the Reunion landscapes.

Gift ideas: opt for a book selected by the Côté Est boutique!

To pass on a little piece of Creole culture, nothing better than offering a book about our island. You will find a nice collection at the Côté Est Réunion store

  • Comics: they are easy to read and cover a multitude of themes. Our favorite: “5 Réunionnaises, cinq destins”, published by Epsilon and written by Gilles Gauvin and Jean-Marc Pécontal, which recounts a significant moment in the lives of five emblematic women of Reunion society.
  • Sound books for little ones: they allow you to listen to sounds by playfully pressing chips hidden across the pages. Our favorite: the Séga/Maloya books from Zébulo Editions, which respectively introduce us to the traditional song “Dodo Sya” and the song “Mon mari pêcheur” by Georges Fourcade.
  • Historical works: they teach us more about Reunion Island and its past. Our favorite: “History and heritage: A past found” by Serge Gélabert – Leveneur Bernard, which compares images taken in 1870, 2000 and 2021.
