The vacoa is a tree that borders the coasts of Reunion Island (East and South). This shrub continues to be used today by enthusiasts who pass on their know-how during vacoa weaving workshops. Indeed, its long, tapered and dried leaves constitute the raw material for the production of basketry in Reunion. This is what we invite you to discover during this workshop to discover the art of vacoa braiding.
Vacoa braiding workshop!
Faithful to this craft tradition, Madame Payet offers you a vacoa weaving workshop to discover this traditional craft. Like our island, the braiding of vacoa is a mixed know-how (Metropolis, Africa, Madagascar, Comoros or Asia).
