Hell-Bourg is one of the most visited places in the East. Its location, almost at the end of the Cirque de Salazie road, justifies visitors going up to the Village, “the most beautiful villages in France” or even “Creole Village”.

The village of Hell-Bourg

Hell-Bourg takes its name from Governor De Hell, who came to set up his summer quarters at altitude. The tradition of changing the air is very common in Reunion.

As soon as the weather is very hot, often accompanied by precipitation, the wealthiest population migrates to the villages of the heights.

One of the “most beautiful villages in France”

Social life is organized around the Governor and his court, mainly the great families of the coast. We must accommodate all these beautiful people. Beautiful "huts" therefore flourish in the village. And thanks to the renovation programs of the Reunion region, they are still standing. The village is even classified among the “  most beautiful villages in France " and " creole village ". And above all, today, the guided tour of the circuit of the Cases Creoles is offered to visitors, local and external. This is an opportunity for everyone to dive back into the life of yesteryear!
