Reunion cuisine, more than an art of living, a cultural heritage

It is a very tasty blend of different origins. Which we invite you to discover through various workshops. Also by visits to plantations, followed by a tasting of an excellent meal. Mixed like its population, this cuisine was born from an encounter between French, Malagasy, Indian, African, Chinese and Cantonese cultures. Suffice to say that this mixture of origins also gives rise to associations of flavors, spices and ingredients that make it a real cultural heritage to (re)discover.

In order to make you want to live this (re)discovery of taste, either through culinary workshops or during days of immersion in Creole culture. We have found 8 reasons for you that we are sure will make you take the leap.

100% home cooking

Of course, who says 100% homemade cooking, says healthy cooking! No additives, no preservatives… in short, all the lights are green. Animals raised in the open air and sometimes even directly with the host, vegetables and fruits grown right in the yard… there is nothing better for a 100% tasty cuisine.

And above all… cooked over a wood fire

One of the traditions that still tends to continue even over the years is undoubtedly the cooking of meals over a wood fire! A real treat for all the senses: see the curry simmer, hear the crackling of the fire, smell the smell of wood and spices, the inimitable, slightly smoky taste of this cooking.

If after that we haven't been able to make you want to (re)discover Creole cuisine... Then we don't know what to do! Apart from inviting you directly to taste it at one of our restaurants in the East. In order to discover these particularities and these secrets through workshops or immersion days with farmers for whom Reunionese cuisine no longer holds any secrets.

In the east of the island in Saint-Benoît, La Sirandane invites you to discover traditional Reunionese cuisine in a friendly homestay. The day begins with an old-fashioned breakfast “rice sofé ek pété sausage” and a “homemade grilled coffee”. Then preparation of curries, rougails and a péi cake for dessert. La Sirandane uses local products cooked over a wood fire.
