The Great Pond in Saint-Benoît

It is a water reserve created by a very old flow that obstructed the Bras d'Annette ravine. The Grand Etang has the advantage of not being a very difficult walk and can therefore be done with the family. Like the immediate and global environment of the East, the area is watered, and therefore lush. There remains of these lava flows the Puy de l'Étang which resembles, but from afar, a crater. It is sometimes too full during periods of heavy rain or unfortunately almost empty during periods of drought.

No difficulty throughout the journey except for the few steps before arriving at the Bras d'Annette waterfalls. THE spectacle of the many waterfalls falling from the rampart to form the Bras d'Annette falls is always pleasing to the eye and the ear.

The place is also frequented by riders from the neighboring club.

Pour s'y rendre

From St. Benedict, take the RN 3 towards the Plain of the Palmists. After 7 km, turn right towards the Grand Étang. A small road winds through the sugar cane for about 3 km, before arriving at a car park and a large rest area with kiosks and barbecues.
